The Remote Access Portal (RAP) will be upgraded. During this time, RAP may be unavailable for several minutes. Open sessions may be disconnected, though you should be able to reconnect to them once the upgrade is complete.
At the same time, the login process will be changed to use the new Maths login screen that you may have seen when logging into the department website and other applications in the last few months. This is part of an ongoing programme of work to improve security - the new login system has better resistance to password guessing attacks and will enable future improvements such as MFA.
As a result of this change for enhanced security, it will now be necessary to re-type your password whenever you connect to a server inside RAP.

Due to equipment upgrade, the central university needs to temporarily shut down all of our external networking. The outage will be kept as short as possible so things might come back earlier than 9am.
If you are in the building during this time: No external connectivity to the internet will be possible, including on any Wi-Fi network in the building. Both Teams and desk phones will stop working, so please make sure you don't schedule any calls during this time (or make them elsewhere). Internal websites and Zimbra email should remain accessible, but Nexus email will not be accessible.
If you are outside the building: Department websites will not be accessible, nor will remote access servers (RAP, SSH) or Zimbra email.

We will be making some changes to the authentication system. The login process will change slightly, and it will no longer be possible to use a Maths account password to clone a repo over HTTPS - we recommend switching to SSH instead.

GitLab restart and configuration update.
Repository size limits (1 GB by default) will now be enforced at push time, rather than via periodic checks.
A new default file size limit of 10 MB has also been introduced - please contact IT Support if you have a repository that requires a higher limit.
